"It was such a pleasure meeting you at Oakgrove Elementary. You certainly blessed the lives of many, especially my daughter, Christina! We are all so thankful for your time and devotion to your work... You are such an encouragement to so many!" Blessings, In an article by Kimberly Durnan from the Dallas Morning News, Karen Kessel, Librarian at Albert Farine Elementary in Irving Texas says, "We talk about Texas and what it means to be a Texan and that Texas is the best state in the Union." Two books written by Carol Crane are among Ms. Kessel's favorites. Round Up: A Texas Number Book, for ages 4 to 8, uses counting poems to teach about cowboy boots, javelinas, mariachi bands and tumbleweeds. "It's a really cool book, "Ms. Kessel said. "It bridges the younger ages and the older kids." The librarian is also fond of the author's L is for Lone Star: A Texas Alphabet because it gives readers a little bit of history along with learning the letters. Dallas Morning News March 2, 2004 October 30, 2001 Dear Carol Crane, "Thank you so much for sending a copy of your book, L is for Lonestar... You were kind to remember me, and I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. With all best wishes, Warmly, Barbara Bush You should be very proud. Your book is lovely!" |
